Before signing a contract, visit the gym at the time of day you would normally train. A quiet afternoon tour may tell you little about peak-hour access to squat racks, cables or free weights.
Check the equipment you use
Make a short list of the equipment your routine actually needs. Try the layout, adjustable benches, cable stations, dumbbell increments and accessible floor space. A larger facility is not automatically a better match.
Understand the full price
Ask about initiation fees, annual fees, cancellation notice, membership pauses, personal-training contracts and whether your rate changes. Read the complete agreement before signing.
Location is a real feature
Parking, transit, opening hours, clean change rooms and a predictable commute can determine whether you show up. A modest gym close to home can outperform an expensive gym you rarely visit.
Use our weekly training builder after you know how many visits you can realistically make.
